Illustration Friday: Window

window2IF

A day late but no matter! My submission for the topic: Window. The windows really weren’t the main focus… Weird. I guess that happens sometimes!
This submission can also fit for this week’s topic: Tense.

  1. I know you have your intentions, but, from my perspective and interpretation, I feel like this piece in particular could either use some expanding to the left (i.e.: into the field of vision of the young individual) to give further context to the blurb – I don’t know the technical term – above her head or an elimination of the blurb in question. The reason I say this is because it looks like she is either surprised or angry at something on the other side of the railing, but we are unable to see what it is. If you were to take the first option, you could create a more rich environment that had its own narratives for the viewer to instill upon it. Alternatively, if you were to take the second option, it would allow the viewer to interpret the scene in their own way and to ponder about the landscape, the individual, their thoughts, etc.

I mean no offense in this, of course. You know how I feel about things like this; I say what I mean with no additives. I really, really like the scene you’ve set up, and the character is very intriguing, but the inclusion of the blurb is slightly distracting to me.

Thank you for your time, Vian!
